Lovespoons are an ornately carved spoon, sometimes with double bowl, traditionally made from a single piece of wood by young men as a love token for their sweethearts, to show their affection and marital intentions. Lovespoons are thought to have originated from the "cawl"  spoon. A love spoon was given to a young woman by her suitor. It was important for the girl''s father to see that the young man was capable of providing for the family. These days lovespoons are given as wedding and anniversary gifts, as well as birthday, baby gifts and Christmas.

Coal Figures

The coal figures features on this website are made by Kingmaker, which is based in Pontypridd. The coal figures come in a number of different ranges including the steam trains, automobiles, mining figures, Welsh collection, the animal range and other figures. The coal figures are made from Welsh coal.
